Overview
Beginning in Montgomery County, MD in February, 2025, we will support public interest activists, causes and organizations by providing a FREE online calendar service. We will also provide free opt-in listserv-like alerts when events are posted that meet a User's criteria in terms of causes, location, cost, age-appropriateness and more.
Our hope and expectation is that this calendar will make it easier for groups and causes to find support - and to avoid scheduling conflicts for their important events.
The Calendar will cover the full range of public interest issues and causes from local civic, PTA, scouting, governmental agency meetings to stream and park cleanups, to charitable fundraisers and electoral action (on a nonpartisan basis) to environmental and social justice causes.
Action Information, Inc. is a tax exempt 501 (c)(3) public charity nonprofit corporation organized in Maryland.
The Calendar will be primarily volunteer driven - we will seek individual and organizational assistance with the collection and careful uploading of event information into the Calendar database.
Action Information will NEVER sell user or organizational information!
Our Immediate Goals: for Individuals
Our primary goals are to make it easier for individuals to find ways to become more active in helping causes and groups near and dear to their hearts.
As the Calendar is populated with events, you will be able to:

Search to find events and causes near and dear to your heart;

Search to avoid scheduling conflicts for events you organize;

Opt to receive hourly, daily or weekly emailed notifications of events based on your own personal interests and criteria;

Easily maintain your own personal calendar of upcoming events; and
-
Add events from your own organization, cause or local area.
Our Immediate Goals: for Groups
Our primary goals are

To make it easier for interested individuals to find and support you, your events and your work.

To help you avoid scheduling conflicts for events you organize;

To help you find partner organizations which share your goals.

To help you find events at which you can publicize your group and/or events
-
To let you to establish a group profile on our site that makes it easy to post your events.
Longer Term Goals
-
To expand the reach of the Calendar to neighboring jurisdictions, the DMV and beyond
-
To permit groups and causes to reach interested individuals and organizations via (opt-in) Action Alert emails.

To strengthen the public interest movement!

We need public-spirited individuals and organizations to join with us. You can help by:

volunteering to upload calendar events for other organizations - potentially grouped by issue, or even local area.
