While the Purple Line is a state, Maryland Department of Transportation project, MCDOT is building the sidewalk in this area. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions on the proposed sidewalk plans.
The proposal provides for the installation of 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalks on the following roadways:
- The east side of Carroll Avenue from University Boulevard to Merrimac Drive.
- The east side of Baron Street from Carroll Avenue to Prospect Street.
- The east side of Glenside Drive from Carroll Avenue to Prospect Street.
- The west side of Long Branch Parkway from Carroll Avenue to Patterson Court.
- The east side of Chester Street from Carroll Avenue to Prospect Street.
- The west side of Prospect Street from 1214 Prospect Street to the Long Branch shared-use path.
At the public workshop, MCDOT will present project details, costs and the project schedule. MCDOT will also obtain public comments and answer questions. Public input is encouraged and may influence the final design of the project.
The public is encouraged to visit the project website and provide feedback via the online comment form or by email to the Sidewalk Program Planning Specialist, Lori Main. Written comments carry the same weight as oral comments expressed at the meeting. All information provided will become a matter of public record.
